Just a small rant, no sources or anything but I had to write it somewhere and Twitter limits me to 140 characters.
I stumbled onto someone’s Tumblr page and there was an article on a “liberty” based site that said we “need to have an FDA or else all these bad medicines and drugs would flood the market”. I chuckle because anyone who claims to be pro-liberty and then advocates a centralized organization that tells you what is ok to eat, drink, and use for medicine is about as mixed up as a jar of nuts.
We don’t need any organization to regulate anything. We simply need market forces to play their course. With the abolishment of the FDA you would see in a matter of years the cure for many of today’s biggest killers hit the markets. Cancer and heart disease would virtually be wiped away. Why? Because no one will pay for a “treatment”, however they will pay for a cure. Without government subsidies there would be no way for these “treatment” businesses to survive, therefore cures would be the demand. No giant pharma companies in bed with insurance, in bed with government.
Ahh, the glories of the free market.
