Kavinsky Remix Contest

Kavinsky, one of my favorite artists is having a contest to celebrate his newest release. The task is to remix his new jam “Nightcall”. If you know what you’re doing when it comes to twisting knobs and matching beats then I suggest you find your way over to the official contest page. The undead artist is offering up some cool prizes for people who win and he is promising to listen to each track submitted. Something I believe he will actually do.

So far a lot of artists have thrown their remix into the hat. One such artist is DJ Chauncey. I have to say (not just because we are friends) that his remix is exceptional. It has been blowing up my speakers for the better part of two days. Complete with a speak and spell and his own vocal track; he took it above and beyond expectations. I feel a few of the submitted tracks are a bit “over cooked” especially given the tone and mood or the original track. His fits just right, fits the tone of the Dead Cruiser. Do yourself a favor and check it out by heading over to his Sound Cloud.

In other news I have officially challenged the Dead Cruiser to a race haha! The Testarossa v. My Caddy – winner gets the other’s car? How bout if I win he plays a show in CT?

Whoa, what’s up WordPress?

It has been way too long since I’ve had a proper blog. I laid Slackerstyle to rest a few months back because I was sick of it and it was honestly a shred of its former self. Anyway here I am, new site and all. Don’t go getting all butt-hurt on me because you see this old theme. I am working on a pretty sweet magazine style theme now. I actually stopped for a minute to post this. The old “Ninja” theme that was so popular on Slackerstyle is only here for a short amount of time, I promise. I just want to iron things out with my new theme before I take it live.

I was busy when I got home today importing all of my Posterous content, so anything I want you to remember is now here. I think Posterous will still stick around my iPhone as a mobile posting tool. It really is the easiest way to blog or post anything. My Tumblr is still up in the air. I really took a step back and decided I have way too many blogging platforms lying around, Tumblr being one of them. It was time to merge so I did.

Being in school will give me a lot of new material to write about so I am excited about that. Without proper content blogging and posting gets really boring. Anything that needs to be seen without a giant story can just be found at my Twitter. I still say Twitter killed blogging no matter what Chauncey says! That dude does go at the blogging hard now a days though.

So this is it, my “in between”, in-between school and whatever else I’m up to. I also managed to secure my name as a domain. Sort of happy to grab it while I could. More on that at some other point. Welcome to the new site, make friends with it. ♥

Deftones, Diamond Eyes… So Good!

I haven’t always been the biggest Deftones fan but I can’t rave enough about the new material. A lot of people are already saying this is the album of the year. I am with them. I would love to make it out to a show when they come around.

If you haven’t heard the new album head over to YouTube and get your listen on.

CMND/CTRL & Risk… so good!

Quickie on Markets and the FDA

Just a small rant, no sources or anything but I had to write it somewhere and Twitter limits me to 140 characters.

I stumbled onto someone’s Tumblr page and there was an article on a “liberty” based site that said we “need to have an FDA or else all these bad medicines and drugs would flood the market”. I chuckle because anyone who claims to be pro-liberty and then advocates a centralized organization that tells you what is ok to eat, drink, and use for medicine is about as mixed up as a jar of nuts.

We don’t need any organization to regulate anything. We simply need market forces to play their course. With the abolishment of the FDA you would see in a matter of years the cure for many of today’s biggest killers hit the markets. Cancer and heart disease would virtually be wiped away. Why? Because no one will pay for a “treatment”, however they will pay for a cure. Without government subsidies there would be no way for these “treatment” businesses to survive, therefore cures would be the demand. No giant pharma companies in bed with insurance, in bed with government.

Ahh, the glories of the free market.
