THE WORLD IS NOT READY

Stabilization is chaos

Am I really that popular or is Posterous playing games?

Posted on January 8, 2010 by Jay Farmington

Over the last few weeks it would seem as if I have grown in popularity at an exponential level! I went into my control panel to check out the amount of page views I have been receiving and to my surprise they have doubled! This is good news pending it is legit. I double checked with my brother and he too has seen a large jump in his viewers. Could this be that we are getting some extra exposure? I have a feeling that there is some unseen force of nature at work here, I can't figure out what though.

Anyway, has anyone else had these issues... hmm, maybe gifts? I would be thrilled if you left a comment!

Slackerstyle Lite goes live on Posterous

Posted on October 7, 2009 by Jay Farmington

I spent the last few days working on getting a live version of the Posterous theme up. It is my pleasure to present the official Slackerstyle Posterous theme "Slackerstyle Lite". It is a port of the original Slackerstyle.com theme which I have been using since before you were born. Seriously though while it is up and running here there are still a few bugs I need to work out and then I will release it for download. I would like to thank my brother (http://randyicj.posterous.com) for some last minute CSS fixes and his sharp eye.

I am pretty excited to finish it, please leave feedback if you are interested in the release and what if anything you would like to see included in the theme. Remember Posterous does not yet let javascript to be embedded so I can't do much for things like including Twitter or Facebook widgets. I would like to work on a way for the user to upload their own top art however it seems like Posterous resizes this uploaded image to a width of 500px which is insufficient. I will see what can be done. Details will be posted here!

Either way I hope you enjoy it! Check back soon.

The new "Posterous Bar"

Posted on September 21, 2009 by Jay Farmington

I can't rave enough about Posterous finally opening up to themes. I have been waiting for quite some time to begin making my Posterous more "mine". With the new theming system comes great innovation. The resources available to anyone are so spectacular even in its early stages, I couldn't thank Garry enough for the new system. However there is one part of the equation that leave me a bit flustered. The new Posterous Bar.

The old system of a set of text links on the "Clean Sheet" theme were more than useful. Beyond that they were minimal! The new bar seems out of place. Although it does contract when you aren't hovering over it, it seems like it always pops up at the wrong time. I went ahead and moved my search box to my sidebar to help ward off any problems. I love minimalism, and I think that Posterous does a wonderful job of making things that can be complicated "minimal". Although I might be nitpicking I really do feel that the minimalism of the text style Posterous Bar is far superior to the new yellow tag popout/hover style bar. I think it looks a bit better as well.

I won't complain too much, after all this is a free service that is so good it could be a pay service. I just wish there was a way to move away from the yellow tag and head back to the text links. Maybe if I do a little more research. It seems like http://shechronicles.posterous.com figured it out so I'm sure there is a work around. I would love to see this as an option though.

Either way, thank you Garry and Co. You guys have something fantastic here. Couldn't be happier (well mayyyybe... see above haha!)
