Royal Pingdom is out with their yearly review of the stability of blogging platforms. For 2011, they reviewed five blogging platforms: Blogger, WordPress, Typepad, Tumblr and Posterous. The results are in:
“Although Tumblr ended up in last place in this survey, it does seem to be on the right track. It may take the service a while to truly catch up with its growing popularity, though. Tumblr is, as the saying goes, a victim of its own success at the moment.”
This is why as much as I love the Tumblr community, and the possibility of being featured/exposed to a large audience, I take my chances with my own self-hosted WordPress. Moving to a cloud install of WP.com is also always an option on any given day. Cheaper in the long run.
Either way, Tumblr, you are not the father.
