Marble Hornets: Creepy but the Best Show on YouTube

Keeping with the paranormal theme I figured now is the best time if there ever even was a time to write a quick blurb about the YouTube show “Marble Hornets“. I have been addicted to these videos for the better part of a year now. A couple of guys got together to produce a movie called “Marble Hornets”. For some unexpected reason they encountered what many believe to be Slender Man. Slender Man is a mythical character thought to be an internet meme but according to Mythical Creatures Guide has a thirst for children and chaos.

He is described as wearing a black suit strikingly similar to the visage of the notorious Men In Black, and as the name suggests, appears very thin and able to stretch his limbs and torso to inhuman lengths in order to induce fear and ensnare his prey. Once his arms are outstretched, his victims are put into something of a hypnotized state, where they are utterly helpless to stop themselves from walking into them. He is also able to create tendrils from his fingers and back that he uses to walk on in a similar fashion to Doc Ock, the Spider-Man villain in the Marvel Universe. Whether he absorbs, kills, or merely takes his victims to an undisclosed location or dimension is also unknown as there are never any bodies or evidence left behind in his wake to deduce a definite conclusion.

As far as the history of the Slender Man it goes on further to say:

Not much is known, as no specific information is given within the thread about origins, but his objective and habitat are made very clear. He has the need to kidnap children, and is seen right before the disappearance of a child or multiple children. He seems to prefer fog enshrouded streets and wooded areas as a way to conceal himself from being noticed. It should also be noted that children have been able to see him when no other adults in the vicinity could. Children also have dreams or nightmares concerning The Slender Man before their disappearance. Confiding these stories to their parents are met with the usual parental admonition: overactive imaginations.

The creature is most known for the notorious Stirling City Library blaze of 1986 which saw 14 children vanish without explanation. One of two recovered photographs from the blaze taken the day the children vanished was confiscated as evidence and thus has never been seen. However, in the attached picture #2 (above) we can see a figure in the distance that does match the description of Slender Man.

The videos and investigation done by the crew from Marble Hornets is fantastic. It’s like a mini mystery show that tends to leave you confused and sometimes on the edge of your seat. If you have some free time set aside 30 minutes and check out the 25+ episodes currently on YouTube, you will enjoy it. You can find their page here. Make sure to start with the Introduction.
